Lorrena's Obituary
Lorrena “Rena” Mae Hornbeck, 90, formerly of Harbor Springs, Holland, and Indian River, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014. She was born December 30, 1923 to Wallace and Annie Jane (Holmes) Neil in Onoway, MI. Rena worked as an administrative assistant for J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency in Detroit as well as doing accounting work at Coffee Cadillac, but most importantly she was a devoted mother and wife. She married Robert Hornbeck on August 26, 1944 in Detroit. Rena loved to bike and ski and enjoyed sports and studying the outdoors. She also enjoyed doing needle work such as hooking rugs. Rena and her husband were avid sailors and spent time sailing on their sail boat – The Rag Doll. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Holland.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her sister – Eveline Craven and three brothers – Clarence, Leonard, and Arthur Neil.
Rena is survived by her husband of seventy years – Robert Hornbeck; children – Nancy (John) Kneeland of South Haven and Neil Hornbeck of Malvern, PA; three grandchildren – Emily Hornbeck, Zachary and Lindsey Kneeland.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, MI.
