Robert Tyler, Jr.

Robert Tyler was born to the union of Robert Tyler Sr. and Malissa Young on December 31, 1948. Robert Sr. and Malissa preceded him in death. Robert was the seventh child to this union of eight children, three of which preceded him in death: Leonia, Willa Mae and Jimmy. Robert was 65 years old.

In June of 1959, Robert, to many of his friends was known as Bob, and his family relocated to South Haven, Michigan from Chicago, Illinois. Robert attended and graduated from L.C. Mohr High School in 1969. Robert’s first job was with Buy Low Food Services as a student and later became a permanent employee. He spent the duration of his working years as a construction engineer with various jobs throughout the state of Michigan for thirty-five years.

Robert enjoyed working with his hands. After he sustained duty related injuries on the job, he created Pillow Talk, a company he designed and constructed pillows and footstools. Robert had many other interests which included electronics, riding his motorcycle, listening to music and watching movies.

Robert made his transition from his earthly home to his heavenly home on September 11, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He loved his family and truly enjoyed being around them at the Malone Family Reunions.

Robert will surely be missed by many, including four sisters—Annie Watkins of Grand Rapids, MI, Freddie Williams of Chicago, IL, Juanita Young of Columbus, OH, and Georgia Young of South Haven, MI; a special cousin—Dovie Brown (Wilkie); a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wake will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will follow wake at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Knox officiating. Robert will be laid to rest at the Covert Cemetery.
