Arline's Obituary
Arline Dorothy Shield, 91, of South Haven and formerly of Warren, MI, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at her home under Hospice care. She was born May 11, 1923 to Arthur and Christine (Jaerling) Young in Detroit. Arline married Anthony Shield on June 3, 1944 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Detroit. She was a particularly imaginative chef with a particular expertise in baking. She also loved to golf and garden. Arline enjoyed listening to classical music and the opera. She was a member of the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren, MI.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Anthony Shield.
Arline is survived by her children – Patricia (Richard) Rudolph of Ft. Walton, FL, Kathy Shield of Virginia Beach, VA, and Michael Shield of Dayton, OH; sister – Dottie Brzezinski of South Haven; granddaughter – Jennifer (Jason) Stewart of Cary, NC; two great grandchildren – Brianna and MacKenzie; nephew – Steve (Linda) Brzezinski; two nieces – Cheryl (Phillip) Beckett of Houston, TX and Kay Wessels of South Haven.
Services will be scheduled at a later date. Arline will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made to South Haven’s Hospice at Home.
