Willie Zeak Jones

Willie Zeak Jones, 90, of Covert, MI, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at his home. He was born October 29, 1924 in Coahoma, MS to James and Inez (Jackson) Jones. He married Myrtle Crawford in July of 1950. During his life, Willie worked as a farmer, a welder and a mechanic at Skelton Farms in Mississippi. He worked on the farm for 45 years until retiring in 1990. He came to Covert, Michigan, in 2010. Willie was the Deacon at Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert. He also greatly enjoyed gardening.

 Willie was preceded in death by his children - Isaac Jones and Magnolia Holmes. His siblings - Jim Jones Jr., Anna Collins, Clyde Jones, Newlee Jones, Roosevelt Jones, Henry Jones, Aaron Townsend and Harry Jones.

 He is survived by his wife - Myrtle. His children - Gracy (Junior) Andrews of Covert, MI, Inez (Jake) Gaines of South Bend, IN, Rosie (Anthony) Davis of Covert, MI, Marilynn (Steve) Williams of Chicago, IL, Zeak Willie (Sue) Jones Jr. of San Diego, CA, Mary (John) Palmer of Atlanta, GA, Rachel (John) Thompson of Jackson, MS, Larry Jones of Wenatch, WA, Isaac Jones of Japan, Lance (Gwendolyn) Jones of Jackson, MS, Debbie Jones of Chicago, Vernice Taylor of Columbus, GA, Brenda Brown of Pace, MS,  and Leonardo Brown of Hattiesberg, MS,
Eric of Champaign, IL, Terry Brown of Pace, MS, and Ivory Jones of Ohio. Rose (Murphy) Thomas of Chicago. His siblings - Eddie Jones of St. Paul, MN, Lucille Yarborough of Chicago, and Dorothy Goshay of Chicago. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A wake will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at the Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. at the church with Pastor Henry Allen officiating. Willie will be laid to rest at the Covert Cemetery in Covert, MI.
