James Patrick Foley

James Patrick Foley, 73, of Bangor, Michigan was taken to his heavenly home on Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born on July 4, 1941 to James F. and Eva (Kohlhoff) Foley in South Haven, Michigan. He graduated from Central High School in 1960. He married, the love of his life, Sharon Weber on May 6, 1961. He worked as an independent carpenter and contractor in the southwest Michigan area for over thirty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Foley.

James is survived by his wife, Sharon; children – Connie (Joe) DeYonker of Elkhart, Indiana; Kathleen (Ed) VandenTak of Holland, Michigan; and Christina (Brett) Lyzenga of Bloomingdale, Michigan; four sisters – Marilyn (Robert) Meints of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Elizabeth (Kenneth) Ulam of Tucson, Arizona; Patricia (Thomas) Klammer of Corinth, Texas; and Joan (Paul) Retberg of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is also survived by six grandchildren – Kelly, Paul, James, Jessica, Brittny, and Kaitlynn. Along with five great-grandchildren – Chase, Cameron, Hailee, Zackery, and Cohen.

Jim will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather by his children and grandchildren. July 4^th, even thought it was his birthday, was a reason to get all his family together and have some of the best parties ever. It wasn’t about him, he enjoyed seeing family and making sure everyone enjoyed themselves.

Memorial services will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church located in Bangor, Michigan at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 with Pastor Matthew Reis officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church following the service in the fellowship hall. He will be laid to rest at Monks Cemetery in Geneva Township. Memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School.
