Otis "Otie" McKie

Otis “Otie” V. McKie, 76, of Coloma, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born September 16, 1938 to John and Vera (Griffith) McKie in Benton Harbor. Otis married Hazel “Chris” Martin on February 22, 1957 in Benton Harbor. He worked for Ravine View Estates. Otie was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved anything outdoors. He enjoyed restoring old tractors. Otie always put his family first. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by a son – Ron McKie who passed in 2006 and two brothers – James and John.

Otie is survived by his wife of 58 years – Hazel “Chris” McKie; children – John (Linda) McKie of Coloma, Otis “Bub” (Julie) McKie Jr. of Covert, Rhonda (Carl) McCrary of Coloma, and Lisa (Dan) Wells of St. Joseph; siblings – Evelyn McIntyre of Plainwell, Joanne Maxwell of Montague, Texas, Jean Starkey of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael McKie of Bridgman, and Sandra Holden of Otsego. 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the funeral home with Richard Kiser officiating. Otie will be laid to rest at Fish Cemetery.
