Theodore Turner Sr.

Theodore's Obituary

Theodore Turner Sr (known as Ted to many) was born on December 26, 1934 to Francis Mack and Laura (Edwards) Turner in Detroit Michigan. Theodore was the sixth of seven children. All of his siblings Francis, Juanita, Marian, Ila, Patricia, and Okelthorpe (Otis) preceded him in death. Theodore grew up in what is now known as the Historic North End of Detroit.

He was educated in the Detroit Public School system, but attended South Haven High School where he obtained his high school diploma in 1988. Theodore developed a love for nature early in life and moved to Covert, Michigan, where he enjoyed his activities of fishing, hunting, and picking fruit, especially blueberries, where he was the co-captain of the blueberry field. Everyone benefited from his fishing and hunting with many fish fries and wild game dinners. Any child that spent any time with him was taught these activities.

Theodore work for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Battle Creek in the early 1950s. He later worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit.  Then he work for Bohn Aluminum in South Haven, MI.  He worked into his early 70s retiring from Inverness Casting Group, Inc (DuWell), in 2006. Theodore took special care to teach his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews good hard work ethics.

Theodore married Vivian Betty Lee in Detroit and to this union five children were born. Three children Theodore Jr., Larry Franklin, and France Elizabeth Willingham, preceded him in death. Theodore then married Letha Tinsley and to this union one child was born. In 1977 Theodore met the love of his life Vickie Martin who he would spend his life and raise children with until her home going in 2012.  He resided in South Haven, Michigan until his passing. God woke Theodore up to perform his daily morning routine on May 9th,  then called him home to take his true rest within his kingdom.

With much love and honor he leaves to cherish his memory His children Christine Hill (Abraham) of Grand Rapids, MI, Sandra Turner-Handy of Detroit, MI, Michelle Gothard (Ozell) of Waterford, MI, Erwin of St Joe, MI, Ebony, of Kalamazoo, MI, Linda (Jerry) Cambric of Holland, MI,  Brenda (Sonny), Gregory (Theresa) of Joliet, Il, Veronica (Rod), Grant (Katie) of Chicago Il, Walter (Nina), Debra (Aaron Jr.), Lisa (Thomas) of Joliet, IL and David (Sheya) of Ann Arbor, MI and his stepson Andre Tinsley of Detroit, A special cousin Dorothy (Ed) Foster, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, his hunting and fishing buddies and a special friend Barbara.
