Dorothy's Obituary
Dorothy Mae Barnes, 92, of Lacota, Michigan, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at Tender Care of Holland in Holland, Michigan. She was born January 4, 1923 to Ben and Lucy (Covey) Behrman. Dorothy lived in the South Haven area her whole life, graduating from South Haven High School in 1941. She worked at Woods Grocery Store, Everett Piano Company and Big Wheel. Dorothy loved cooking for her family. She also enjoyed her bowling league and outings to Four Winds Casino.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents. Her husband - William J. Barnes Jr. Her sisters - Marge Seibert and Kathy Pumroy. Her brothers - Bernard, Harold and Robert Behrman.
She is survived by her children - Bill (Lou) Barnes of South Haven, MI, Jim (Joan) Barnes of Phoenix, AZ, Tom (Sherry) Barnes of Fennville, MI. Five grandchildren - Jennifer (Jim) Mason, Andy (Trish) Barnes, Erin Barnes, Lindsey (Grant) Spencer, and Rachel Barnes. Seven great-grandchildren - Breanna Mason, Kaley Mason, Anderson Barnes, Hadley Mae Spencer, Haven Spencer, Nolan Barnes, Grayson Barnes. Sister-in-law - Barbara Sutton.
A private graveside service was held Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Chambers Cemetery with Rev. Harold F. Filbrandt officiating. Dorothy was laid to rest next to her husband, William.
