Ruth Joann Ingraham

Joann Ingraham, 85, of South Haven, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the River Crest Specialty Hospital in Mishawaka. She was born August 23, 1929 to John and Ruby (Knapp) VanWynen in South Haven.  Joann worked as the head cake baker and decorator at McKenzie’s Bakery for many years.  She married Richard Ingraham on January 6, 1964. Joann loved to go camping, gardening, and walking. She loved her German Sheppard companion, Harley. Joann was known to many as Grandma Jo.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Richard Ingraham who passed in 2008 and son – Stephen French who passed in 2013.

Joann is survived by her children – Gary (Sherry) French of South Haven, Mitchel (Donna) Ingraham of South Haven and Margaret Gabriel of Bersallies, Missouri; four grandchildren – Christopher, Timothy, Eric (Lindsey) French, and Stacy (Alan) Moulter; five great grandchildren – Lyla, Payton, and Tyler French, Lucas and Brett Moulter. Also surviving are her special friends – Judy Covey and Nila Stormont.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.  Memorial services will follow visitation at the funeral home at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joann’s memory to the Sarrett Nature Center, 2300 N Benton Center Rd, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
