Floyd "Bunick" Young

Floyd William Young Jr. "Bunick"  age 70 of Covert, Michigan Died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Univ. of Michigan Heath Systems.  Floyd was born May 5, 1945 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Floyd Sr. and Valeris (Scott) Young.  Floyd served his country in the US Army during the Veitnam War.  He married Evie Scales in 1972.  Floyd worked at several manufacturing jobs.  His most recent job was at Swing-Lo Scaffleding in Covert.  Floyd enjoyed picking blueberries and other fruits in the area.  He liked to fish and was an avid Chicago White Sox baseball fan.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Evie Young,  children - Corey Young, of Illinois, Tanisha Anntonette Young, of Park Forest, Illinois, Duane (Ronna) Young, of Ohio, Alan (Felicia) Long of  Dolton, Illinois, Lola Detrice Long, of Tampa, Florida,  Jeffrey Lee (Michael) Long, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, LaTasha Marie Long of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Aretha Kay Dixon, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Floyd's siblings - Vivian Wilkerson, of Park Forest, Illinois, Valerie Scott of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Michelle Primer, of Jackson, Mississippi, Daryl Scott, of Minnesota, and Sherman Young of Park Forest, Illinois; also by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Special thanks to Tony and Adeline Sutton and Charlene Brunt, close friends - Jeffrey Chandler, Steve Leonard and George Sanely.

Floyd is preceded in death by his mother - Valeris Young; Children - Floyd William Young, Atonya Rose Long, and Fredrick Lee Long and brother - Rickey Young. 

A wake will be held from 1:00 to 2:00  P.M. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Simon Harrington officiating.
