John "Moose" Mercado

John “Moose” Mercado, 57, of South Haven, passed away surrounded by his loving family and close friends on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born April 16, 1958 to John V. Mercado and Viola (Leadingham) Woodard in Plant City, Florida. Moose worked at Hyma Chevy Olds for over ten years before retiring in 1987 due to an injury. He also was a bridge tender for the City of South Haven for six years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and making fires. Moose was a real outdoorsman.

He is preceded in death by his mother – Viola Woodard who passed in 1995 and brothers – Ray and Tom who passed in 1987 and 1997 respectively.

Moose is survived by his father – John Mercado; siblings – Jim and Larry Mercado both of Bangor, Juanita and Mike (Gayle) Mercado, Jody Erickson and Mary Woodard all of South Haven; special nephew – Chris (Kari) Woodall; Many nieces and nephews; and long time friend – Curt (Bo) Cowell and family also survive.

Private family services have been held. Contributions may be made in Moose’s memory to the National Kidney Fund, 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY 10016. Moose will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
