Edward's Obituary


Edward Charles Henriksen, 85, of Gobles, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born January 6, 1930 to Edwin and Marion (Arnold) Henriksen in Kingsford, Michigan. Edward married Vivian Lyman on August 22, 1964. Edward served his country in the United States Air Force. He also was a principal, teacher, and coach at Anchor Bay Public Schools in Michigan.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife of 48 years – Vivian Henriksen who passed in 2012 and brother – Arnold Henriksen who passed in 2007.

Edward is survived by his children – Judith (Mark) Henriksen Walczak of Holland, Catherine (Jeff) Heriksen Wetzel of Gypsum, Colorado, and Andrew John (Jennifer) Henriksen of Chelsea, Michigan. Siblings – Martin Henriksen of Yorkvillie, Illinois, Dale Henriksen of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Karen Cassin of Park Ridge, Illinois, Madelyn Anderson of Des Moines, Iowa, Beverly Sharkey, and Marianne DuFour both of Escanaba, Michigan; Five grandchildren also survive – Christopher, Matthew, Jonathon, Cecilia, and Sasha.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Casco United Methodist Church with Rev. David Meister officiating. Edward will be laid to rest next to his wife in McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township. Contributions may be made in Edward’s memory to the Allegan County Medical Care Community, 3265 122nd Ave, Allegan, MI 49010.
