Bonnie's Obituary
Bonnie Jean went home to be with her husband, Jack, on September 9, 2015 at Hanson Hospice Center, St. Joseph, Michigan
Bonnie Jean began life on December 12, 1932, the youngest daughter of Garrett and Zora Weaver. Bonnie had a wonderful childhood, sitting at her mother’s knee, drinking coffee and playing canasta. She met Jack Harrington when they were both young and they began dating in their teens, often seen skating together. They fell in love and married in 1951, shortly after Bonnie graduated from high school. They had three sons, Fred Richard, Randy Jim and Jack Alvin, Jr. Jack, Sr. passed away in 1960 after a brief illness. Bonnie struggled but she raised her boys up strong and independent.
Bonnie worked at the Model Theater, the South Haven Telephone Company and the South Haven Rubber Company where she will be remembered for her spunk. For over 20 years, she worked for the Michigan Department of Human Services in Berrien County, retiring in 1988.
Bonnie had a heart of gold and would give to others even if she did not have it for herself. She loved life and the people in her life. She is survived by her son, Fred, daughters-in law Peggy, Veronica Lynn and Dorenda Harrington; 9 grandchildren, Deborah Ann Denslow, Brian, Randy Jim, Jr., Alan, Shannon, Garrett, Crystal and Andrew Harrington and Angela Jones Hann; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Post, Nancy Mahoney, Josephine Cole and Dorothy Harrington; brothers-in-law Willis and Clifford Harrington and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett and Zora Weaver, her husband Jack, sons Jack, Jr and Randy Jim, brother Ken, sister-in-law Wilma, sister Donna Kuhn and brother-in-law, Robert Kuhn, nephew Larry Kuhn and niece Margo Weaver and great-granddaughter Autumn Renee.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm with funeral services on Friday, September 25, at 1 pm at Filbrandt’s Family Funeral Home, 1076 S Bailey Avenue, South Haven, MI. The Reverend Sally Kay Harrington will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of South Haven, MI.
