Margaret Ellen McPeak

Margaret Ellen “Peggy” McPeak, 70, of South Haven, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at her home under Hospice care. She was born October 1, 1944 to James and Betty Jean (Boys) Goheen in Chicago, Illinois. Margaret married Wade McPeak on February 9, 1963 – they were married 52 ½ years. She graduated from the South Haven Beauty College and later worked for Consumers Discount at the perfume counter. During her free time she loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens. In the summer time, she spent most days scouring Deerlick for Petoskey stones.

In her youth, Margaret enjoyed art and often painted. Later in life, she spent her time viewing cooking and childrens programs with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers – Pat and Danny Goheen, beloved Sister – Royce Besemer, niece – Marianne Fields, and son-in-law – Thomas A. Anderson.

She is survived by her husband – Wade McPeak of South Haven; Children – Elizabeth Anderson and Jane Dykstra both of South Haven;  five brothers – Jimmy, Kevin, Mark, John, and Dion; two sisters – Denise Fike and Mary Watts;  and six grandchildren- Laura (Frank) Kahsar, Benjamin(Chelsea) Anderson, Robert (Maria) Dykstra, Jr., Emily (Rob Gleeson) Dykstra, Wade (Ashley) Dykstra, and William Anderson; four great grandchildren – Torin Anderson, Ira Elizabeth Dykstra, Marcus and Johnathon Gleeson with two more on  the way; son-in-laws – Bob Dykstra and Ben Newton.

A memorial gathering will be held at the American Legion Post 49 in South Haven from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
