Richard's Obituary

Richard “Dick” Allen Burrows, 89 of South Haven passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 at his home under Hospice care. He was born January 24, 1926 to Charles and Blanche (Bagent) Burrows in South Haven. Dick worked for 57 years as an electrician with Local Union 131 I.B.E.W. He then became an electrical inspector and retired in 2012.

He was a member of Star of the Lake, Free and Accepted Masons, No. 158 since 1957. He was Worshipful Master nine times. He was voted Mason of the Year in 1983. Dick was a member of the Valley of Grand Rapids Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite and was coroneted a 33rd degree Mason in 2011. Since 1993, he spent many enjoyable hours researching and writing as Editor of the Masonic News. He was Puissant Sovereign of the St. Vincent Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine.

He had a true love of music, especially Barbershop. He was a member of S.E.P.S.Q.S.A for most of his life and sang most recently as lead in “Class Reunion”. Dick often golfed with friends commenting that it was a good thing he enjoyed the game because he was not really good at it. For most of his life, he loved beginning each day and solving the world’s problems with the guys at coffee.

Family is the joy and the tears in sharing our lives. Family is the roots that bind us all together as one. Family is love. Dick is survived by his wife, Patricia Burrows; brother – Don (Kathleen) Burrows of Florida; children – Dinah Stephens of Fargo, North Dakota; Linda (Wally) Nachtigal of South Haven; Michael (Belinda) Bertolozzi of Las Vegas, Nevada; Rindy (Anthony) Webb of Sweetwater, Tennessee; Anthony (Dee) Bertolozzi of Ladson, South Carolina; Kathy (Mark) Nightingale of South Haven; Jan (Kerry) Tietsort of Holt, Michigan and many wonderful grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Masonic memorial services will follow visitation at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to the Masonic Learning Center, 233 E. Fulton Street, 5th Floor, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503 or to the Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010.
