Roger J. DeVries

Roger J. DeVries went to be with The Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Roger was born May 12, 1941 to William and Anne Mejeur DeVries in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School and attended Ferris State University. He was employed by North American Aluminum and DeVries Builders and then owned and operated DV Builders, Inc. for thirty years with his wife Mary Jo. In 2000 he built their retirement home in South Haven. He was a long time member of Centerpoint Church of Kalamazoo. Roger loved Lake Michigan, boats, cars, and photography. Most of all, Roger loved his Lord and his family.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Jo, son Michael (Sonya) DeVries of Melbourne Beach, FL., grandson Cody Baumstein and girlfriend, Ashley Pfeifle, son-in-law Michael (Robyn) Baumstein, sister Corene (Terry) DeHaan of Holland, Sister-in-Law Pat Holtzer of Palm Desert and special twins, Keaton and Kaya Durden. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding him were his parents, daughter Julie Ann Baumstein, brother-in-law Dale Holtzer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home, 1076 S. Bailey Avenue, South Haven, with Pastors Dar Vander Wall and Mark Congrove officiating. Memorials may be given to the Center Point Church of Kalamazoo, Bethel Baptist of South Haven, or Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan.
