Jack and Shirley's Obituary
Henry passed away March 8, 2013 at the age of 84 and Shirley passed away August 1, 2015 at the age of 83 both at Kingsburg Care Center in Kingsburg, California.
Jack and Shirley enjoyed 54 years of marriage together and most of those years were lived on their horse ranch in Selma, California. Jack and Shirley enjoyed riding and caring for their horses. Jack enjoyed riding with the Tehran Mounted Patrol. He especially enjoyed riding in the Rose Bowl Parade. Jack and Shirley also enjoyed boarding and training race horses for very dear friends George and Jackie Ward of Selma.
Jack and Shirley enjoyed traveling and visiting family; Jack’s sisters Ella Mae Mackey of Antioch, California, Johnnie Daniels of Vernon, Texas, and Martha Baker of Dayton, Ohio. They also enjoyed visiting and attending family reunions with Shirley’s special niece, Jean (Alton) Johnson in South Haven. Jack and Shirley loved South Haven; reunions, summer activities, sightseeing and especially sun set cruises on Lake Michigan.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters – Ella Mae and Johnnie. He had one dear sister (Martha) surviving him and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Strazolka of Chicago, Elaine Knotts of South Haven and two brothers, Kenneth Smalldridge of South Haven and Richard Smalldridge of Seattle, Washington. She is survived by one brother, Kieth Smalldridge of Newbern, North Carolina and many nieces and nephews, and friends.
A family memorial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Schmid officiating. Jack and Shirley will be buried in McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township. A special thanks to friends Dusty and Judy Probert and family for helping and caring for Jack and Shirley in their later years.
