Gwendolyn Jones

Gwendolyn Jones, 57, of  Covert, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from her home. The eldest daughter, Gwendolyn was born May 31, 1958 to Roy Lee and Lillie B. (Saffold) Wade in Chicago, Illinois. She confessed her hope in Christ at the Greater Mount Please Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Gwendolyn graduated from Covert High School in 1976. She would later earn an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and worked as a para-professional at Covert Public Schools for 31 years. Gwendolyn married Pastor Maurice Jones on July 21, 1979. Gwendolyn was a very dedicated Pastor’s wife. She also loved to sing in church. She was a member at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Gwendolyn will be remembered for her sunny disposition and her willingness to help others in any way she could.

She is preceded in death along with her parents, by her husband—Pastor Maurice Jones, brother—George Lewis, Father-in-law—Rev. Willie Jones, brother-in-law—Michael Jones, and Godfather—Robert Bowling.

Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her precious memories: one brother—Bruce Wade and Sister– Claudia Wade both of Chicago; children—Bethany (Shawn Reed) of Osceola, Indiana and Kevin (Shetelia) Jones of Davenport, Iowa, Jessica Johnson and Antria Donald; grandchildren—Keturah Jones, Janaiah Harris, Za’Keiya Harris, Ke’Vion Maurice Jones, KanYe’ Jones, Keemaricus Jones and Jamar Mitchell; her god family - The Bowling Family; brother-in-law—Neal Langsten; mother-in-law—Juanita Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and church family and friends.

Wake will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in South Haven Township. Funeral services will follow the wake at 2:00 PM with Pastor Eric Sloth officiating at the church. Gwendolyn will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery in Covert.
