George's Obituary

George Schack, 90, of South Haven, passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 at his home under Hospice care. He was born July 26, 1925 to Adolph and Emma (Tropp) Schack in St. Joseph, Michigan. George graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1943 and married Janet Shuler on September 13, 1947 at the First Baptist Church in Benton Harbor. He owned and operated Industrial Pattern Works for over 40 years. George enjoyed being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. When living in St. Joseph, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Joseph where he was baptized. George was also a member of Hope Reformed Church in South Haven where he was on the Consistory serving as a Deacon and Elder.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his sister – Virginia Schack.

George is survived by his wife of 68 years – Janet Schack; two daughters – Laurie (Steve) O’Connell of St. Joseph and Lynne (Eli) Sanchez of Hinsdale, Illinois; five grandchildren – Angela and Eric Sanchez, Ryan, Kevin, and Sean (Cait) O’Connell.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Hope Reformed Church in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Curry Pikkaart officiating. George will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Reformed Church, 1365 Monroe Boulevard, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
