Joseph's Obituary

Joseph Edward McKee, 81, of Covert, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born June 23, 1934 to Charles and Lolia (Little) McKee in Chicago, Illinois. Joseph served his country in the United States Army. Joseph worked at Palisades Nuclear Plant as a security guard before retiring in 2000 after 18 years of service. Joseph’s hobby was his interest in radio and communication equipment.  He also authored a book about nuclear power plants.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by two brothers – Homer Blackmond and Jimmy McKee and two sisters – Edith Calloway and Alice Blair.

Joseph is survived by his son – Greg (Doris) McKee of Chicago, Illinois.  Grandchildren – Angela R. McKee, Gregory J. McKee, and Maya N. McKee; siblings – George (Vernetta) McKee of Covert, Earl (Eula) McKee of Benton Harbor, and Dorothy Roland of Detroit.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Covert Community Church with Pastor Beverly Smith officiating. Joseph will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery next to his mother Lolia.
