Niquitia Lacole Merritt

Niquitia Lacole Merritt, 31, of Covert, Michigan made her transistion from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 14, 2016. “Quitia” as she was affectionately known was born October 18, 1984 in South Haven,
Michigan to her parents Frederick Merritt Sr. and Debby Merritt Clarke.

Quitia accepted the Lord Jesus at the age of 12 in Titusville, Florida where she attended church as a child. After the family moved to Michigan she attended South Haven Public Schools and graduated in 2002. She was an employee of Wendy’s and Taco Bell in South Haven, Michigan

She was the mother of two beautiful children, Kamauni and KeJuan whom she loved very much. There was never a dull moment in her presence. Quitia was fun to be around and would keep you laughing by the funny things she would do or say. She would do anything she could to help a friend, often babysitting for others in the community. Quitia possessed a forgiving personality and will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Niquitia was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Walter A. Merritt and Hazel V. Merritt, maternal grandfather Henderson L. Clarke and aunt Patricia Merritt.

She leaves to cherish her memory parents, Frederick (Shawn) Merritt, Sr., of South Haven, and Debby (Michael) Merritt Clarke of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Her children Kamauni Chantanique and KeJuan Jamontae Tillman of Covert, Michigan—Comapnion Travis Shaver of Covert, Michigan. Two sisters Mequesha (Anthony) Merritt and Samantha (Terrill) Merritt all of South Haven. One brother Frederick (Rebecca) Merritt, Jr. of Shelbyville, Tennessee. Grandmother Addie Mae Clarke of Cocoa, Florida—Great-great grandmother Lanora Williams of Quincy, Florida. Six uncles Pernell (Naomi) Clarke, Victor Clark both of Nashville, Tennessee, Ronald Clarke and Mario Clarke both of Benton Harbor, Michael (Trudy) Merritt of Grand Junction and Henderson Clarke, Jr., of Barbados.

Six aunts Angela (Michael) Clarke, Latina (Nate) Davis both of Cocoa, Florida, Melinda Merritt and Jackie Moslie both of Titusville, Florida, Marcia Waite of New York and Maria (Orville) Clarke of Barbados.

Favorite cousins Virginia Merritt, Victoria Clarke, Jerome Merritt and Alex Parker. Favorite nephews, Markyse Merritt, Jaysean Merritt-Smith, Anthony Merritt-Nicholas, and Noah Kennedy. Four god sisters, Shaniqua Langford, Zakia Williams, Dinikquan Mackeral, and Kemiah Elliot. Several cousins, great aunts and uncles also survive.

Special friends include Tisha Kenendy, Ashley (Rame) Walker, Bianca (Samuel) Milot, Shakara Devine, Ameila Smith, Tearni (Jermaine) Rice, Antwan Smith, Deleon Stewart and many others that are not mentioned.
