Margaret's Obituary
Margaret Louise Harsch, 93, of South Haven, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2016.
Margaret was born November 3, 1922 in South Haven, the second child of John and Leah (Winkel) Harsch, and grew up in the family home with her five siblings. Margaret graduated in 1941 from South Haven High School. After graduating, she moved to Ypsilanti, MI to work for Ford Motor Company during the World War II years. She was proud to be a “Rosie the Riveter!” gal. She returned to South Haven after WWII, and was employed by the City of South Haven Board of Public Works from 1946‐1966. Later, she was Office Manager of West Point Hills in Mattawan and then moved to Chicago, employed at Warren Barr Supply for several years in the accounting department before returning to South Haven.
Margaret was a faithful lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in South Haven, where she was a member of the choir, served as a Sunday School preschool teacher, and was on the Altar Guild. Her faith was always a very important part of her life.
Margaret is survived by her siblings Marie (Harsch) Onofrio of Benton Harbor, Gerald (Ellen) Harsch of Kingsland, TX, Richard Harsch of South Haven and Vernon (Bette) Harsch of South Haven, fourteen beloved nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, and 7 great‐great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Leah, sister Clara (Harsch) Seroke, brother‐in‐laws Robert Seroke and Michael Onofrio, nephew Michael Seroke, and great niece Meghan Arnold.
Family was very important to “Maggie”, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends. Maggie loved big band music, a hot cup of tea, knitting, a good book, and her University of Michigan Football. Her nieces and nephews thought the world of her as she did of them. She will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 4‐5 PM on Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in South Haven. Memorial services will follow at 5:00. The committal service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at North Shore Memory Gardens at 11:00 AM.
