John's Obituary
John A. Leva, 70, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at his home. He was born April 8, 1945 to John and Mary (Connolly) Leva in White Plaines, New York. John served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He owned his own trucking company and loved accessorizing his own truck. John also enjoyed photography and at one time taught photography at KCC. He also worked as a production operator at the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek before retiring in 2013. John also had a love for riding motorcycles especially his Honda Goldwing.
John is survived by his children – TJ (Kwinn) Leva of Hillsdale and Alyson (JR) Dakin of Peoria, Illinois, and siblings – Tom (Sherry) Leva of South Haven, David (Sally) Leva of Willmington, Delaware, and Patty (Brad Willkomm) Leva of Longmont, Colorado. Nine grandchildren also survive – Madelyn, Rece, and Everlee Leva, and James, Charlie, Paisley, Betsy, Willow, and Salem Dakin.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will follow visitation at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John’s memory to the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life”, 3041 Cherokee Trail, Osseo, MI 49266.
