Maxine's Obituary

 

Maxine Marie Light, 88, of Grand Junction, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Meadow Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Bloomingdale. She was born July 19, 1927 to Henry Turner and Lucille (Keith) Turner in Goodland, Missouri. Maxine married Noel Light on March 10, 1966 in Valley Park, Missouri. She owned and operated Surf Drive In, a grocery store and restaurant, in Mexico Beach, Florida. She also worked for Four Star Corporation, Bangor Foods, and True Blue Farms until her retirement. Maxine enjoyed arts and crafts, flowers, and fishing. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Grand Junction.

She is preceded in death by her husband – Noel Light, son – Scott Ferguson, daughter – Carol Hanner, and siblings – John, Joe, and Paul Turner, Della Cash, Carolyn Kinder, and Gladine Hendrix.

Maxine is survived by her children – Kim (Todd) Leist of Grand Junction and Harold (Darlene) Ferguson of Hartford, siblings – Loretta (Bob) Dempsey of Pilot Knob, Missouri, Carol (Don) Williams of Ironton, Missouri, and Pauline Huffstutler of Middlebrook, Missouri. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow visitation at 5:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Fisher officiating. Maxine will be laid to rest at Arcadia Valley Memorial Cemetery in Ironton, Missouri at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
