Zadie L. Gray

Zadie L. Gray, 88, of Covert, Michigan and Gary, Indiana went to be with her Lord, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at her home in Covert. Zadie was born July 7, 1927 to Jim and Mamie (Marlow) Brown in Tupelo, Mississippi. Zadie was a shipping clerk at Bethlehem Steel for 20 years until she retired in 1989. She married her late husband, Frank Gray on December 7, 1951 in Gary, Indiana. In Gary, she was an active member of New Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, Gary, IN, where she served as Head usher. She then moved to Covert in 2012 and attended Covert Community Church. Zadie also loved to fish.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank Gray Sr.; her son, Anthony Gray and grandsons - Michael Williams Jr. and Anthony Collins; her brothers - George, Willie, Archie, and Thomas Brown; and her sisters - Mary Kate Brown, Nannie Sue Williams, and Lovie Perry.

Zadie leaves to mourn her children – Rosalind (Earl) Smittie of South Haven, MI, Lena Strong, Blane (Tracie) Gray, and Cedric Gray all of Covert, MI as well as her stepson - Frank Gray Jr. Gary, IN. Sixteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, Nephews, Nieces, and Friends.

A wake will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th, at Covert Community Church in Covert, Michigan. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Beverly Smith officiating. Zadie will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery in Covert, Michigan.
