Delphra Cranston Scoggins

Delphra Cranston Scoggins, 71, of Allegan, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Blue Moon Adult Foster Care in Allegan. He was born May 29, 1945 to DuPree and Sammy (Sampson) Scoggins in Gary, Indiana. Delphra was raised in the church under his uncle, pastor James Taylor at the Church of the Living God in Gary, Indiana. He sang in the choir and became a member of the usher board. As a young man, Delphra worked with special need children and adults at a school in Glen Park. He later worked as a janitor at Mr. Lucky in Gary, Indiana. He married Margarita Smith on October 12, 1994 at the Channel Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana. He loved to fish, barbecue, travel. Delphra was also an excellent bowler. He also enjoyed running the dogs with the Van Buren County Beagle Club where he was a member. Delphra loved his family and enjoyed gathering with his friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his wife – Margarita Scoggins and sister – Janice Branch.

Delphra leaves to cherish his memory his niece – Gail Branch of Bangor and nephew – Brent Scoggins of Atlanta, Georgia, grandniece – Perie Scoggins, four grandnephews – Brent, Aaron, and Jared Scoggins and Jaheim Branch, and one great grandniece - Leannah Scoggins, special friends – Yvonne Bailey and Sandy McLemore. He also leaves a host of cousins and friends.

Wake will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow the wake at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
