Martin's Obituary
Martin Ray Canada, 89, of South Haven, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born October 27, 1926 to Felix and Patrie (Riley) Canada in Finley, Tennessee. Martin was a dedicated worker and held two jobs all of his working life. Martin always farmed and was a machinist at Lovejoy Inc. for 25 years before retiring to Florida in 1992. Martin returned to Michigan in 2008. Martin and his wife, Aline, would welcome anyone to their home at any time and would help anyone in need. Martin and Aline were parents to niece and nephews, Bob, Thomas, and Connie.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Aline, his parents and siblings – Jack-Robin, Ralph, Essie Lou, and nephew – Thomas Dunivant.
Martin is survived by his children – John (Bonnie) Wortman, Ruth Lambert, and Bessie (Zane) Kark all of South Haven, grandchildren – John (Davina) Kark, Richard (Laura) Lambert, Bethany (Alan) Vanden Bosch, Carolyn Wortman, Kevin, Derek and Margaret (Todd) Newberry, great grandchildren – Kaley and Jared Kark, Annabelle Lambert, Valerie and Stephanie Vanden Bosch, Josey, and Lola VanderMarkt, nephews – Edward (Joan) Canada, Gary Canada, and Pat Benefiel, niece and nephew – Bob Grief and Connie Paden, and sisters in law – Mildred and Frances Canada.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Congrove officiating. Martin will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township.
