James Edward Johnson

James Edward Johnson Age 63 of South Haven Went home to be with his Lord on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehebilitation Community.

James was born December 31, 1952 in Crenshaw County, Alabama to Aaron and Kelpia (May) Johnson.  James worked at Bohn Aluminum and South Haven Rubber Company throughout his working years.  He was a handy man.  James enjoyed building and fixing things.  He loved to fish and work in his vegetable garden.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruby Shepherd.  Brother, Jimmie Johnson and a son, George Sutton Jr.

Surviving are his former wife – Juanita Sutton.  Children – Tony Sutton, Troy Sutton, Helena Blackmon, Kim Christie, Latonya Jackson. Step children - Latonya Langston and Cornelius Langston.  Brothers – Aaron Johnson Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama; Leroy Johnson of South Haven; Marvin Johnson of Kalamazoo and Kevin Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas.  Sisters – Virginia Johnson of Grady, Alabama; Mattie Blair of Goshen, Alabama; Evelyn Wilson of Benton Harbor; Clara Johnson of South Haven; Ruthie Johnson of Lithonia, Georgia and Judy Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas. Nieces and nephews he raised – Ivy Ann Gill, David Gill, Quincy Mahone, Leon Jackson, Tynesa Jackson. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
 

Home going services will be Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven with Pastor Antoinette Cox officiating. The wake will be prior to the services from 12 noon to 1:00 at the funeral home.  James will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven.
