Russell J. Bronson

Russell J. Bronson, 93, of Portage and formerly of South Haven, passed away September 6, 2016 at his home. Russell was born February 16, 1923 to Russell and Eva (Hinnberg) Bronson in Detroit, Michigan. He served his country in the United States Army from 1942 until 1954. He married Ethel Gantor on January 30, 1947 in Detroit. Russell worked for Bohn Aluminum in South Haven until his retirement in 1980. Russell and Ethel spent several years in Florida after retirement before moving back to the Kalamazoo area. He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Shinkonis and Geraldine Greenwood.

Russell is survived by his wife; Ethel Bronson of Portage; children Russell (Kay) Bronson of Portage, Kevin (Sheila) Bronson, and Dennis Bronson, both of Kalamazoo and grandchildren; Russ Bronson, James Bronson, Lindsay Larrabee, Dustin Bronson, Evan Bronson, Aaron Bronson, and brother-in-law, Carl Ganter of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from ­­­­­­­­­­­­1:30 to 2:30 PM on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the St. Catherine of Siena Church, Portage, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 PM at the church. Russell will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven, Michigan.
