Edith's Obituary
Edith A. Decker, 98, of South Haven, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the River Ridge Retirement Community in South Haven. She was born April 21, 1918 to J. Gottlieb and Martha (Lehrack) Rulla in Sterling, Nebraska. Edith married Rudolph “Doc” Decker on July 18, 1941 in South Haven and shared 58 years of marriage until his death in 2000. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church. Edith was an accomplished seamstress and shared her love of crafting by making Raggety Ann and Andy Dolls and necklaces from church bulletins for her family and friends.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband “Doc” Decker, daughter Janet Decker, a brother and five sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Beth (Tony) Tanke of Davis, California and Kathy (Don) Burrous of Niles, Michigan, three grandchildren, Matthew Burrous, Katie (Andrew) Chavanak and Larissa DeLuca, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edith’s memory to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church 06321 Blue Star Memorial Highway, South Haven, MI 49090, the Holland Rescue Mission, 661 E. 24th St. Suite 60 Holland, Michigan 49423 or the charity of your choice.
