Richard's Obituary
Richard Claire Brinks Sr., 89, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at his home under Hospice care. He was born December 11, 1926 to Harm and Clara (Dunslar) Brinks in South Haven. Richard served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He married Nancy Claflin on November 26, 1983 at the First United Methodist Church in South Haven. Richard enjoyed working in transportation and served several companies including CB Christian, Wood & Meyer, Tripp Trucking and Bohn Aluminum.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings – Grayce Barthel, Steve Brinks, Betty Springett, Neil (Bud) Brinks, Herman (June) Brinks, Jerold Brinks, Robert Brinks, Marvin Brinks and Janet Novotny.
Richard is survived by his wife of 33 years – Nancy Brinks of South Haven, children – Audrey Frabe of South Haven, Dennis (Mary) Brinks of South Haven, Kip Brinks of South Haven, Rich Brinks of Fennville, Roger (Julia) Brinks of Mattawan, siblings William (Gladys) Brinks of South Haven, Alta June Michael of Florida and Marilyn (Ron) Eldred of South Haven, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will be follow visitation at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastors Virginia Heller and Billie R. Dalton officiating. Contributions may be made in Richard’s memory for the Al-Van Humane Society.
