L.W. Tom's Obituary
L.W. Tom Thomson, 96, of South Haven, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. He was born August 20, 1920 to Robert and Bessie (Clary) Thomson in Petersburg, Illinois. Tom served his country in the United States Navy during World War Two. He married Dorris Nelson on April 20, 1950. Following his service, Tom worked as a real estate broker and a teacher. Tom was the Governor of the State Lions Club in 1971 and 1972. Tom was instrumental in the nation’s first traveling sight mobile.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Dorris who passed in 2012.
Tom is survived by his children – Beverly (Glenn) Knous and Larry (Janet) Thomson both of Petersburg, Illinois and Sherri Brazill of Otsego, Michigan, and brother – Robert Thomson of Petersburg, Illinois, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Tom will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the Al-Van Human Society, PO Box 421, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
