Frances's Obituary

Frances D. Otto, 94, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven. She was born March 3, 1922 to Charles and Harriet (Smith) Polansky in Suffolk, Massachusetts. Frances married Richard “Bud” Otto on May 18, 1942 in South Haven and shared 46 years of marriage until his passing in 1988. Frances worked for Bohn Aluminum as an inspector for 35 years until her retirement in 1983. After her retirement, Frances volunteered at the Warren Center for over 10 years until the age of 90.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifelong member of the VFW.

She is preceded in death by her son – Richard Otto.

Frances is survived by her children – Donald (Bette) Otto of South Haven, Charlan Otto of Belding, Michigan, and Janet Carlson of South Haven, four grandchildren – Michael Strebeck, Bo Strebeck, Christyn Forrest, and Laramie Otto, and nine great grandchildren whom she played with, adored, and loved deeply.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven with Chaplain Laurie Timmer officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frances’ memory to Caring Circle Hospice at Home, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
