Jean's Obituary
Jean Veronica Knapp, 88, of South Haven, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Grace of Douglas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 17, 1928 to Claude and Nellie (Sherry) Ely in South Haven. Jean graduated from South Haven High School in 1946. She married Robert Knapp on June 7, 1947 in Parchment, Michigan and shared 60 years of marriage until Robert’s passing in 2006. Jean worked for years in various stores in both South Haven and Bangor. She enjoyed the years spent being a tour guide taking bus tours with her husband on Cardinal Busses. Jean also enjoyed crafting and sewing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death along with her husband and parents by her brother – James Beaty.
Jean is survived by her children – Deborah (Don) Jenks of South Haven and Robert (Teri) Knapp of Fort Meyers, Florida, six grandchildren - Michelle Knapp, Karah (Keith) Hiscott, Christina (Jed) Lawhun, Casey (Jason Calim) Knapp, Matthew (Kristy) Jenks, Timothy (Michelle) Knapp and seven great grandchildren – Grace, Jaxon, Wyatt, Maxamillian, Macy, Rylan, and Aiden.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 with Rev. Terrill Schneider officiating at the funeral home. Jean will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
