Tommy's Obituary
Tommy Joe Blackston, Sr., of Allegan, passed away Friday, January 6, 2016 at his home under Hospice care. He was born May 18, 1946 to Cory and Vivlee (Gaitlin) Blackston in Lapino, Arkansas. Tommy married Rose Brown on May 10, 1968 and shared 48 years in marriage. He worked as a contracted farm hand for many years until his eventual retirement.
He is preceded in death along with his parents – Cory and Vivlee Blackston, by two sons – Corey and Tommy Blackston, Jr, and brothers – Junior and Larry Blackston.
Tommy is survived by his wife – Rose Blackston of Allegan, and son – Kenneth (Nikkole) Blackston of Allegan, siblings – Bill Blackston of Kalamazoo, Johnnie Blackston of Coloma, Linda (Bob) Tanner of Bangor, and Mary (Charles) Pew of Hartford.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastors Philip Haner and Jimmie Blackston officiating. Tommy will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township.
