Jean's Obituary
Jean Harris Jenkins, 91, of Mattawan, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Bronson Commons in Mattawan. She was born April 21, 1925 to Albert Harris and Margaret (Williams) Harris Murray in Chicago, Illinois.
Jean graduated from the James McCosh High School. She worked as a dispatcher for the Checker Taxi Cab Company. She was a member of the Woodlawn AME Church in Chicago and the Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert. Jean served as a foster grandparent at Covert Public Schools. She enjoyed shopping for clothes, going out for dinner, and
going to the movies.
She is preceded in death by a nephew – Albert Randall Harris.
Jean is survived by her brother – A. Randall Harris, nieces and nephews – Eugene Randall Harris, JeanMarie Holmes, Anjelia Y. Neuson, and Anna Maria Harris,
and six great nieces and nephews.
Wake will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, January 16, 2016 at the Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert. Memorial services will follow the wake at 12:00 PM with Pastor Henry Allen, Sr. officiating at the church.
