Arthur's Obituary
Arthur E. Andrews, 98, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Bronson Hospital in South Haven. He was born May 21, 1919 to Albert and Burma (Burton) Andrews in Covert, Michigan. Arthur served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the Ticonderoga as an Aviation Ordnanceman First Class. He married Margaret Smith on October 13, 1947 and shared 62 years of marriage before her passing in 2009. Arthur worked for Everett Piano Company until his retirement in 1983. A life-long learner, Arthur frequently had a book in hand. He loved photography, gardening, chemistry, music, woodworking, and was especially handy with electronics. Arthur was also an avid Tigers fan.
He is preceded in death along with his parents and wife by a son – Gerald Andrews and sister – Marian Wolf.
Arthur is survived by his children – Veronica (Rich) Anderson of New Harmony, Indiana, Diane (Marc) Brinks, Susan (Mark) Hadaway, and Mary (Don) Frazier all of South Haven. Grandchildren Angie Cipolla, Matt (Kim) Anderson, Amanda (Mike) Price, Michael Brinks, Lucas Hadaway, Kate Hadaway, Teagan Frazier, Jacob Frazier, Jennifer (Gary) Gill and six great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Military honors will be held at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Arthur’s memory to the Historical Association of South Haven, 355 Hubbard Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
