Theosa Cummings

Theosa Cummings, 91, of Birch Run, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven. She was born December 28, 1925 to Martin and Nancy (Robinson) Poe in Morgan City, Mississippi. Theosa married Edward Cummings in August of 1943 and shared 23 years of marriage before his passing. Theosa once worked as the office manager for Totten Tire Service in Birch Run.

She is preceded in death along with her parents and husband by siblings – Howard, Herbert, and Lois Poe, Verna Mae McCoy and Pearl Whitaker.

Theosa is survived by her children – Linda Blair of South Haven, Sara (Don) Chiles of Birch Run, and Billie Schell of Birch Run, siblings – Faye Bradshaw of Greenville, Mississippi, Lou Ray Goss of Houston, Texas, and Mearl Sewell of Greenville, Mississippi, five grandchildren – Ed Schell, Chuck Wenn, Debra Jane Fillmore, Lori Ignelzi, and Jami Haycock, eleven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held in Birch Run, Michigan at a later date. Theosa will be laid to rest at Birch Run Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Theosa’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
