Stanley Marion Opiela

Stanley Marion Opiela, 82, of South Haven, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, July 6, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born November 6, 1934 in Poland. Before emigrating to the United States in 1965 with his wife Genowefa and children, Stanley served in the Polish Army and worked for the railroad in Poland. He worked for Bohn Aluminum in South Haven as a molder for 35 years until his retirement. Stanley enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables. He was devoted to God and his family, praying the rosary every day. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren

He is preceded in death by his wife – Genowefa Opiela and son – Edward Opiela.

Stanley is survived by his children - Kristina (John) Kasishke of South Haven, Maria (Jeff) TeRoller of Caladonia, and Mark (Faith) Opiela of Grand Haven, seven grandchildren – Lauren, David, and Tyler (Halea) Kasishke, Michael and Rachel TeRoller, Annalise and Sophia Opiela, and siblings – Sophia and Joseph both of Poland.

Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. Funeral Mass will follow visitation at 11:00 AM at the church. Stanley will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made in Stanley’s memory to the St. Basil Catholic Church, 513 Monroe Boulevard, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
