Maynard "Eric" Thompson

Maynard “Eric” Thompson, 61, of Grand Junction, died Saturday,  July 8, 2017 at his home.  He was born July 24, 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Enos and Dematrice (Day) Thompson.  Eric served his country in the United States Army as a nurse during the Vietnam War.  He married Shiron Fay Higgs on March 2, 1999 in South Haven.  Eric owned and operated Valley Graphics in South Haven, retiring in 2003.  He also worked in security at the Palisades Nuclear Plant.  Eric enjoyed art, coin collecting, computers, photography, chess and puzzles of all kinds.

He is survived by his wife – Shiron Fay Thompson.  Daughters – Joyce E. Shine of Bangor, Erica Suzanne of South Haven and Monica Patrice Thompson of Raleigh Durham, North Caroline.  Six grandchildren.   His dog, Ginger, and his service dog, Rocky.  Sister – Valerie Thompson of Grand Rapids.  Brothers – Charles Leroy Thompson of Tampa, Florida, Bradly Lance Thompson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Terence Joel Thompson of Orlando, Florida, and Averill Paul Thompson of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will follow the visiting at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Starks officiating.  Eric will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township with Military Honors.
