Joy's Obituary
Joy Lou Martin, 77, of Newaygo, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Spectrum Gerber Hospital in Fremont. Joy was born March 22, 1940 to Frank and Neva (Reninger) Barnes in Douglas, Michigan. Joy married Charles Martin on July 19, 1958 in Grand Rapids and shared 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. She loved cooking and baking for her family and was especially known for her fried chicken. Joy was a member of the Horse Shoe Chapel. Joy loved everything Elvis
She is preceded in death along with her parents and husband by two granddaughters – Shonda and Nichole Martin, and siblings – James, Robert, Bernard, Howard, and Ronald Barnes, Eunice Dutton, and Ardith Sisson.
Joy is survived by her children – Robin (Michael) Fisher of Fennville, Gayle Kuiper of Newaygo, Karen Higley of South Haven, Becky Martin of Newaygo, Charlie Martin of Grand Junction, and Todd (Jeannie) Martin of Pullman. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 4:00 PM with Pastor Don Miller officiating at the funeral home.
