Leo Wynn Cummins

Leo Wynn Cummins, 96, of South Haven, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. He was born September 11, 1920 to Roy and Fern (Haynes) Cummins in South Haven. He worked construction for Holland Construction in St. Joseph and Pearson Construction in Benton Harbor for a combined 47 years before his retirement in 1982. Leo honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Leo married Pauline Smith on December 13, 1947 in Angola, Indiana and shared 55 years of marriage before her passing in 2002. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #49 and the First Congregational Church UCC in South Haven. Leo was an outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and taking walks on the pier.

He is preceded in death along with his parents and wife by siblings – Elmer, Loyd and Murl Cummins and Geraldine Cota.

Leo is survived by his children – Linda Cummins of South Haven and Tammy (Keith) Thomas of Coloma, grandchildren – Marjorie, Kyle, Amanda, Katie, Vanessa, and Matthew, great grandchildren – Arianna and Loraline, and sister –Jean Goodwin of South Haven.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the First Congregational Church, UCC in South Haven with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Leo will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven next to his beloved Pauline.
