Gordie's Obituary

Gordie Burns, 84, of Casco Township, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at his home under Hospice care. He was born May 6, 1933 to Lawrence Burns and Esther Caryl (Glynn) McNeal in South Haven, Michigan. Gordie honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Medic during the Korean War.  He married Stella DeLaLuz on July 23, 1966 at Douglas Community Church in Douglas, Michigan.  Gordie worked as a mechanic, in small engine repair, and at Everett Piano Factory.  He retired as a chemical operator from Wycoff Chemical Company. Gordie enjoyed collecting and shooting guns and was a member of the Rod and Gun Club.  He also was a sportsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his sister – Joyce Guminsky.


Gordie is survived by his wife – Stella Burns of Casco Township, children – Dawn Marie Adams and Lawrence Dean Burns, both of Gobles. Nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.


Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven, Michigan. A luncheon and memorial service will follow graveside services at the South Haven Rod & Gun Club, 68611 8th Avenue, South Haven, Michigan 49090.  Gordie will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven where Military Honors will be presented.
