Mildred's Obituary

Mildred Jane Moore, 99, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Inn at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan. She was born June 16, 1918 in South Haven and later returned to the area in retirement. Jane graduated from South Haven Central High School and held degrees from Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University. She taught in the secondary schools of Imlay City and Kalamazoo. She later volunteered teaching English as a second language for many years. She was a member of the Al-Van Humane Society, American Fields Service and Adult Reading. She married Lansford “Bud” Moore on June 21, 1942. They enjoyed 75 years together in Kalamazoo, Wooster, Ohio, Deerfield, Illinois, and Glenn, Michigan.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Kathryn Richards Merson, daughter Marti J. McCarney, sisters Lillian Rattenbury and Helen Merson, and brother Richard C. Merson.

She is survived by her husband, Bud Moore. sons John (Bela) Moore, Thomas (Shannon) Moore, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many dear friends in Glenn, Allegan, South Haven, and Holland.

Interment and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Contributions may be made in Jane’s memory to the Al Van Humane Society, PO Box 421, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
