Claude Robert Phelps

Claude Robert Phelps, 63, of Pullman, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Hanson Hospice Center in St. Joseph, Michigan. He was born February 13, 1954 to Claude and Leora (Swift) Phelps in Lansing, Michigan. Claude graduated from Lansing High School. He honorably served his country for twelve years in the United States Navy. For over 25 years, Claude was an engineer at the powerplant at Michigan State University in East Lansing. He enjoyed photography, wood working, meteorology, and reading. Most of all, Claude loved spending time with his family at “Claude’s Cabin”.

Claude is survived by his wife – Mary Jackson of Pullman. He had a special relationship with his step children, Lara (Jeffrey) Caldwell, Anna DeVries, and Sophia (Matthew) Stiffler and his sister-in-law, Jenny McGill (Allistair.) He is also survived by his children – Cassandra Phelps, Caleb (Laura) Phelps, grandchildren, and his brother, Allan Phelps (Lynn).

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Cogdal Vineyards, 7143 107th Avenue, South Haven, Michigan 49090 with Chaplain Lori Timmer officiating.
