Susan Schnake

Susan Schnake, 74, of Grand Junction, MI departed this life on January 21, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI. Susan was born on June 14, 1943 in South Haven, MI, the daughter of the late Gordon H. and Marian Pratt Powers and had lived in the South Haven area her entire life. She married Ronald Schnake (Sr.) on January 25, 1964.  Susan enjoyed volunteering at the humane society, her pets (Toby, Yeller, and Buddy), walking and running, and being surrounded by nature.  Most of all, she cherished spending time with her son, granddaughters, family and friends. 

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Schnake Sr.; son, Ronald Schnake Jr. (w. Lillie) of Fredericksburg, VA;  stepson, Fritz Brueggeman (Audrey) of Wray, Colorado; four granddaughters – Jennifer Lauschus (h. Jacob) of Hawaii and Heather Schnake of Miami FL; Leigh Baldwin (h. Zachary) and Alanna Brueggeman of Wray, Colorado; two great grandchildren – Carter and Caroline;  sister, June Craft (h. Jerry) of Winter Park, FL; sister, Mildred Harris (h. Bernie) of Allegan, MI; brother, James Powers (w. Audrey) of South Haven, MI; brother in-law James (w. Alada) of South Haven MI along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers William and Gordon Powers.

Private family services have been held. The family suggests memorials be made to Al-Van Humane Society of South Haven, MI.
