Joylee Virginia Dee

Joylee Virginia Dee, 87, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home under hospice care. She was born August 25, 1930 to Otto Weaver and Lusetta (James)Forsyth Franklin in Battle Creek, Michigan. Joylee graduated from South Haven High School. She married George Dee on September 16, 1950 in South Haven and shared 42 years of marriage before George’s passing in 1993. Joylee began working for GTE/Verizon at the age of 17. She worked as an operator, supervisor, and supply truck driver for 45 years before her retirement in 1992. She loved helping with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with knitting, completing puzzles, and sun bathing. She was a member of the Lacota United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death along with her husband and parents by a daughter – Nancy Trowbridge, granddaughter – Lori Quinn-Seleski and siblings – Kenneth Weaver, Mary Cates, and James Franklin, Jr.

Joylee is survived by her children – Vicki Dee and Sandra (Doug) Quinn both of South Haven, ten grandchildren -Sarah Dailey, Robbie and Andrew Trowbridge, Brian Sholes, Alexandra and Samantha Fester, Tony and Buck Quinn, and Adam and Trevor Dykstra, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many honorary grandchildren including John Marr and Jennifer Zumda.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Lacota United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow visitation at 12:00 PM with Pastor Michael Pinto officiating at the church. Joylee will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township.
