Sally's Obituary
Sally Kay Wheeler, 81, left this life on Friday, May 4, 2018 to be with the Lord and her loved ones that left before her. Sally died with her loved ones surrounding her. She was born August 12, 1936 to Edward A. and Mae V. (Kilburn) Dezelsky in Saginaw, Michigan. She later became a resident of South Haven for over 40 years when her beloved husband brought her to his home town. Sally chose to never leave.
Sally was a teacher of piano and voice for many years. She was thankful for the voice of music that is left behind in many students that were so loved by her. Her motto was, “The way to Carnegie Hall is paved with 1% talent and 99% practice, practice, practice.”
Sally left behind volumes of stories, poetry, a novel and many unfinished masterpieces. Another passion was quilting and all who knew her have a colorful quilted something, usually hand stitched, to remember her by.
She was known for the many people she served for in Hospice and the Stephens Ministry. In between raising a large family, she was always on stage singing and dancing all the songs she loved. Although her music is gone, it lives on in all those she taught, entertained, or touched. Her music is gone but the melodies linger on in her loved ones’ hearts.
She was a member of the Eau Claire Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved to travel anywhere and everywhere around the world.
She is preceded in death by her husband – Dr. Joseph D. Wheeler, son – Richard Morey, and step-son - Robert Wheeler.
Sally is survived by her children – Rebecca (Eric) Stalnaker, Randal (Karen) Morey, Pamela (Gabe) Ozse, Robert (Patricia) Morey, Russell (Pamela) Morey, and step-children – Sheila (Kenneth) Fietz, Karen (Gary) Burns. 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will follow visitation at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Sally’s memory to Caring Circles Hospice at Home, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.
