Vivian LaVon Shelton

Vivian's Obituary

Vivian LaVon Shelton was born on June 22, 1935 to Thomas Jerry Sanders and Bessie Mae Stewart in Madison, Arkansas. Vivian was the middle child of three. The oldest, Deloris Delrio Sanders and the youngest, Thomas Cornelius Sanders. She lived in Madison until age 18. On July 18, 1952, Vivian married Herman Eugene Shelton, also from Madison, Arkansas. They began their life and family together in Chicago, Illinois. In 1960, Herman and Vivian relocated to South Haven, Michigan, where they established the Shelton Farm.


Together, Vivian and Herman raised a family of eight children; Herman Eugene Jr., Johann Sebastian, Charles Byron, Harold Czyswon, LaWanna Charisse, Jay Donathan, Sheila(h) LaVon, and Eric Christopher. In July 2017, Herman and Vivian celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Vivian was a homemaker, farmer, and factory worker at the Michigan Fruit Canners and Bohn Aluminum.
 

Vivian is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas C. Sanders, and two sons, Charles B. and Jay D. Vivian leaves to mourn her passing her sister, Deloris Delrio Sanders, devoted husband of 66 years, Herman Sr., sons, Herman Jr. (Pam), Johann (Earline), Harold, and Eric and daughters, LaWanna and Sheilah.    

 

Wake will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow wake at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Vivian will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a plant to be donated for the creation of a small memorial garden on the Shelton Farm in memory of Vivian.
