DeAnn M. Grega, 68, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Spectrum Health Lakeland, St. Joseph.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 A.M. Friday, February 8, 2019 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware Ave., Benton Harbor, with Fr. Ben Huynh officiating. Private burial will follow. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel. DeAnn was born on October 2, 1950 in Benton Harbor to Emil A. and Pauline A. (Lester) Grega. She graduated from St. John’s High School Class of 1968 and attended Lake Michigan College. DeAnn was employed by the State of Michigan as a caseworker for the Department of Human Services, retiring after twenty-six plus years. She was a member at St. John/St. Bernard Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. DeAnn was an avid reader and shared a mutual affinity for anything Stephen King with her niece Tia. She enjoyed her time in retirement reading, traveling, spontaneous trips to visit extended family across the country and discovering her ancestry. DeAnn was an avid supporter of the Humane Society of SW Michigan, having fostered numerous rescue animals. She also enjoyed following the Chicago Blackhawks. She was a loyal friend and her sharp penchant for observing irony and finding humor in human nature will be missed dearly by all.
DeAnn is survived by her brothers, Kevin Grega of Riverview, MI and Dennis (Pam) Grega of Benton Harbor; and her niece Tia Grega of Bozeman, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Pauline Grega.
